Wig Care Tips

Allowing styling products and dirt to build up on your wig (or hairpiece) will dull it over time. Proper wig care and maintenance are extremely important. By following the guidelines below you will be able to keep your wig or looking beautiful for a very long time to come. Regular shampooing and conditioning every 10-12 uses, using products designed for synthetic hair, will keep the wig fibers looking shiny and new. While the tips below are generally suggested for synthetic hair care, please follow first and foremost the instructions provided your wig’s manufacturer.

1. Fill your sink with COOL water.
2. Mix in a capful of wig shampoo.
3. Soak piece for five minutes.
4. Gently agitate until clean.
5. Rinse thoroughly with COOL water.
6. GENTLY blot with towel(s).
7. Allow wig to dry completely on a stand. DO NOT USE HEAT TO DRY. (Clip-ons may be hung on hangers.)
8. Comb ONLY when hairpiece is COMPLETELY DRY.
9. Spray piece with leave-in conditioner and work through with fingers to maintain shine.
